2013 Meet-Up Dates

Here are the meet-up dates up to October. Dates for November and December will be confirmed later in the year.

The evening meet-ups are always held at the Guide Hut, 4 Margaret St, Southport from 6:30pm.

Daytime meet-ups are held at various locations, generally a cafe.  Children are welcome at daytime meet-ups and we attempt to choose venues that are kiddy-friendly. A couple of the daytime meet-up dates fall during the Queensland school holidays.  If there is enough interest then a kid's craft morning will be held on these dates.

A Very Crafty Christmas

Thank you to all who shared our Christmas celebration at Bumbles on Thursday 6th December.  Great company in a beautiful venue with a handmade not-so-Secret Santa.

We are taking a short break from meet-up over the Festive Season.  Evening meet-ups will resume on the second Tuesday in February.  There will be a daytime meet-up scheduled for the last week of February.

Thanks to all those who have been part of Crafty Coasters in 2012 - whether you attended our meet-ups or shared your inspiration, projects and crafty knowledge via the Facebook group.

Morning Tea at Teavine House

A beautiful Gold Coast day and an elegant venue.  With fabulous loos!

Thanks to those who came along to the Crafty Coasters Christmas Morning Tea on 30th November.  There were some truly creative and beautiful handmade gifts shared in the Secret Santa.

The final meet-up for 2012 is a dinner event at Bumbles on Thursday 6th December.  If you'd like to join us please RSVP via the Crafty Coasters Facebook page as soon as possible.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....

A great Girls' Night In

Thank you to those who came along to the meet-up last night in support of the Cancer Council's Girls' Night In. We raised $100 for the fight against women's cancers.

Thank you also to Kim and Susie who shared the crafty love by offering the group their unwanted craft supplies - de-stashing so that the rest of us could re-stash.

We are planning a school holiday kids' craft meet-up at the end of September.  Stay tuned for more information.

Girls Night In @ Crafty Coasters September Meet-Up

This month we are combining our meet-up with a Girls Night In to raise money for Cancer Council QLD to fight women's cancer. We are asking for a $5 (or more!) donation from everyone who attends the meet-up. Bring a plate of tasty treats to share. Tea and coffee with be supplied.

Crafty Coasters, Rabbit & Cocoon

Each Thursday Rabbit + Cocoon studio residents throw their doors open to the public, giving visitors a chance to peruse and commission local art, network with creatives, as well as listen to Rabbit Radio broadcast music on-site. The Shed also stays open during this time.

Crafty Coasters is heading along to check it out on Thursday 30th August from 6pm.  The Rabbit + Cocoon complex is at 23 Hillcrest Pde, Miami.  You can RSVP via email craftycoasters.gc@gmail.com or via the Facebook group page.

Crochet & Chocolate

It was all about crochet and chocolatey treats at the Crafty Coasters meet-up this evening.  It was just what we needed on a fresh August night.

Cold nights, warm hands

This evening we kept warm with crochet, knitting, tea and home baked treats.  On cold winter evenings it is wonderful to have the company of crafty friends.

Controlled Chaos

This month's daytime meet-up was dedicated to school holiday crafts.  There was origami, badge making, masks, stickers and LOTS of fun.

This evening there was crochet, knitting, embroidery and patchwork.  There was also an incredible pile of fabric and craft supplies to share around - thank you Kelly and Fiona!

We are planning a kid's craft day for the upcoming winter school holidays. Details to follow.

Yarn-tastic!

Thanks to everyone who came along to the evening meet-up last night.  It was a record turnout with over a dozen of us there.  It was great to meet some new crafty friends and to catch up with some members that we haven't seen for a while.

As you can tell from the pics there was lots of yarn craft.  Must be the cooler weather ;-) 

We also took donations for the Pillowcases for Oncology Kids charity and for the silent auction that is being organised by CC member Vicki as part of her High Tea in the Pavilion Cancer Council fundraiser.  Thank you to those members that contributed.

The next meet-up will be a daytime one - Wednesday 30th May.  Venue to be announced.

Crafty Coasters May Meet-Up

Join us for craft and good company on Tuesday 15th May from 6:30pm at the Guide Hut, Margaret St Southport.  BYO crafty project or just come along for a chat.

This month we are collecting handmade pillowcases for the charity Pillowcases for Oncology Kids.  If you've got a handmade pillowcase to contribute then bring it along so that we can post the package this month.

We also have a request from Vicki, a Crafty Coasters member who is organising an event for The Biggest Morning Tea.  Vicki would love donations of handcrafted items to include in an auction.  All proceeds go to the Cancer Council.
